This page helps troubleshoot TOTP Vault without submitting diagnostics or user data.

Cannot unlock the vault

Check keyboard layout, capitalization, and surrounding spaces.
Confirm this is the browser profile that created the vault.
Do not clear extension storage or reinstall while investigating.

QR import

Use a standard otpauth://totp QR code.
Keep the QR fully visible before starting visible-page scanning.
Ordinary web URLs are intentionally rejected.

Code mismatch

Synchronize your operating-system clock and time zone.
Confirm algorithm, digits, and period against the service.
Wait for a fresh code period before retrying.

Local vault recovery

There is no server-side reset.

The project cannot decrypt an existing vault or recover a forgotten Master Password. The vault exists only in the browser profile where it was created.

Clearing extension data, uninstalling the extension, profile damage, or device loss can make the vault unrecoverable.

Report issues without exposing secrets.

Prepare the extension version, browser version, operating system, reproducible steps, and exact non-sensitive error text.

Never share a TOTP secret or current code
Never share a migration QR or encrypted vault
Remove personal account identifiers

Before moving accounts

Keep recovery codes.
Verify the new authenticator.

Do not remove the old authenticator until a newly generated code has been accepted by the service. V1.0 Personal does not provide cloud backup or cross-device sync.
